Simply Aprons Depending on how long you've been reading this blog, you may or may not remember way back when (April of 2008 to be exact) I had one of my apron patterns published in a book called "A is for Aprons". The publishers took 12 patterns from that book and created this new book "Simply Aprons" which features a pattern from yours truly. The book won't be available to ship until March 1st but I received my advance copy on Monday along with an additional copy that I have decided to give away here on ye olde blog. So if you want to win a copy just leave a comment (yes, stop the press- the comments are opening back up!) and tell me what your weekend plans are. Mine…hmm… Mexican restaurant with friends tomorrow night and I think that's it. Oh I just remembered it's a holiday weekend! We'll have to do something fun on Monday.

Now- for my other celebrity sighting (this one is for you, Elaine W.) I decided to expand my television watching to incorporate a few more shows. Call it a New Years resolution if you will. Right now I've only got about 4-5 shows in my television rotation. I became oddly intrigued by the show "Hoarders" and set it up on TiVo. That show…yikes! I am here to admit that I am a craft & fabric hoarder. Send in Dr. Zasio stat! I like her;  she reminds me of my old neighbor, Rita, who by the way was an extra in a few "Leave it to Beaver" episodes while in her youth. I digress.

It was a cold, dark, night (as all stories should begin) and I was at the .99 cent store picking up valentines stuff for Henry's party and lo and behold who do I run into? Dr. Robin Zasio? No- I wish! ….wait for it….AN ACTUAL HOARDER WHO WAS FEATURED ON THE SHOW. What's even more impressive is that it took me about a 1/2 second to realize who this person was. I didn't even have to think about it. No, "hmm..that person looks familiar." And I know you are wondering- the answer is 'no' they were not hoarding stuff from the dollar store.

So, leave a comment, tell me what you are doing/did this weekend OR tell me of your best celebrity sighting. I'll leave the contest open until Mon. or Tues  Wednedsay because of the holiday!

Have a good one!

***I found it! I had to go back to 2007! The apron pattern in the book is for this Apron***

It was ccccold here in Ontario this weekend! That didn’t stop my hubby and I from seeing friends on Friday and Saturday night, dinner with the whole family on Sunday, and a lovely family day yesterday that was spent in Toronto at a museum and then on to Chinatown for dinner! Busy but fun!
My only sighting was the backside of the Dalai Lhama at an airport in Florida last fall!
Have a great week and congrats on the book!

I am amazed you posted about aprons. About 2 weeks ago, I decided I wanted a 1950’s style apron. I browsed Ebay for a vintage one and decided I could make one myself if I had a spiffy pattern! I would be honored to win your extra book.
For the holiday weekend, I grabbed my cute son (who is now 14) and we flew to LAX and taxi’d over to Long Beach where we caught the Carnival Paradise and took a little cruise to Ensenada. We needed the get away together. It is so tough to get your teen away from friends and electronic gadgets long enough to spend family time. But we did it and had a great time. We are back in the city of Salt with it’s snow and gloomy weather now. I did think of you while in Southern California and wondered what wonderful things you did for the holiday.
I love Hoarders too. Every time I watch it, I feel like I have to shower and clean out a closet. It has been highly motivational for me. In fact, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to clean and sort every closet and drawer in my home over the year. This includes “finishing” any project left undone or to finally decide it is no longer interesting and off to charity it goes. As you can imagine, it will be a very busy year.
Years later, I still love your blog. The kids have grown up so much. Thank you for the ongoing inspiration.

I forgot to congratulate you on your published pattern. That is so exciting! Also, I had a celebrity sighting a few years ago. T.R. Knight asked me for directions to Sundance during the Sundance Film Festival. What makes it super funny is we were in traffic on 2100 South and 700 East in Salt Lake and communicated through our car windows. I was impressed he rented and was driving his own car.

I had a birthday party for my 4 year old this weekend. It was a lot of fun…old school Yogi Bear was the theme. Last month I went on a girl getaway weekend to Palm Springs. We happened to stop by Ace Hotel for lunch and I saw Heather Ross. I was too shy to tell her I love her fabrics. None of my fashionista girl friends even knew who she was…not one crafter among them…

Hey there! I’m glad that you’ve opened the comments again. I’m going to catch up on your blog to find out how life with three is for you…if you make it sound like it’s all homemade baby food and roses, you know i’m gonna have to kill you. Hopefully our paths will cross soon. 🙂

This holiday weekend, extended by a snow day, I spent working on Craft Hope projects with my daughters, shoveling the snow, and working on March Is Reading Month decorations for my children’s school’s library. Thanks for the chance to win!

I live in Chapala Mexico and am making aprons, pot holders and the such for a fund raising project for Hope House Boys Home. Sounds like a strange thing to make to help support boys. I love aprons. My grandmother always wore one and would put one of hers on me when we were in the kitchen. Mine was always way too big but I loved waring it because it was hers. Miss my grandmother and the days of helping her in the kitchen. Hope I win this book so I will have more aprons to make for the fund raiser.

My best celebrity siting was Garth Brooks a couple of years ago while visiting my sister in a very small town in Oklahoma – collinsville, in a grocery store. He and his two girls were just standing there chatting like good ole neighbors.

I’m recently retired and interested in getting back to sewing. Aprons are adorable and can be an easy first project. My daughter is my biggest chearleader and found your ruffle apron pattern. I’m excited about making one for her and shopping for the material. I have plenty of time to get the apron done before Valentine’s Day. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

I plan on spending the weekend with my family. We are going to eat good food, watch movies, and just be together. I might try to sew my daughters teacher an apron with her help. She has picked out your ruffled apron.
