IMG_3334 I think I'm nesting. Monday turned out to be a day of nearly 10 loads of laundry,  (and for the record, I will jump for joy when the day comes that I don't have to pay $2.50 per load of laundry), washing & setting up the co-sleeper and washing the car seat & all the baby clothes. I'm still recovering. Does anyone have any good suggestions on drawer organizers? The baby clothes are so small folded in that dresser and when the piles start to inevitably topple over it's going to be a mess in there. Let me know. Still no hospital bag packed, BUT major progress on the quilt. The entire top is done and just needs to be put together & binded. Huzzah! Still working on the to-do list but the tree is decorated and just a handful of things need to be done. IMG_3340This book has been on my night stand for months. We bought it when we were pregnant with Henry. I was pouring over this book on the delivery bed while laboring with Kate. For any new readers to this space, we really struggled with naming Kate and changed her name a month after she was born (by the way it still has not been legally changed….all the paperwork was recently sent back to us because I left one of the squares on the form blank….lame!)IMG_3343The back of the book has a little workbook page where you can write down all the names you like. We have names from when we were naming Henry and of course Kate. I even have some contraction times written down on this page from Kate's delivery. We have a name picked out for this little one, but I get a little panicky and start feeling unsure about it but have sworn to myself that we will not repeat what happened with Kate. I wish names weren't so difficult. I really want something that goes with Henry & Kate but I realize they won't always spend their lives together & it doesn't really matter. I'm just not 100% and that feeling sucks rotten donut holes. I just don't know what to do. Added to the to-do list: Pick a name for the baby (we are rapidly running out of time!) Maybe it's time for a new book. Maybe it's not the very best name book after all.

Suggestions? I'll take 'em!

We have a Cate and we’re naming #2 Caroline. One of our very good friends has a son named Henry and we LOVE how it goes with Cate…we’re already thinking marriage 😮

okay…re-reading your blog and realizing you’re having a BOY.
    oops.
Anyway, I’m sure that he will fit his name to a T when he comes out! (not that this helps but we were thinking Oliver if we were having a boy…)

(And they fit perfectly in those IKEA dressers!)
I think you’d love them, they would “Komplement” the drawers nicely!

I’m pretty sure if you wanted name suggestions you would have asked, but I’ll tell you anyway. Our boys are Finn and Deacon (their sisters are Carrington and Ellie). That is so exciting to be so close!! Good luck!

I like when children’s names go nicely together too. How about Patrick for a boy and Sarah for a girl? I think these go well with Henry and Kate.

Henry and Kate have a similar British thing in common…… Mary, Sarah, Meredith, Emma, Jane……look at Jane Austen for some more women.
George (don’t do it!), William, James. For some reason I can only think of English Kings.

With our third we’d basically narrowed down our name list to one, but I wasn’t completely in love with it like I’d wanted to be. So he spent the first 24 hours of his life being called “Baby” while I stared at him and prayed to know what he should be named. We went with our top choice- Finnley (or Finn)- and now 8 months later it’s just so perfect for him. These little ones of ours just seem to know how to grow into whatever name they’re given. So don’t stress. There’s no rule that says you have to name your baby before they get here. Have a look at him, and see what feels right. Good luck! 🙂

We briefly talked about William-We love Will but Will Moore? Sounds like Wilmore….not so much.
And James- we love James, but we already have a “Henry James”
    See…NOT SO EASY : )

How funny…we are without a name from our soon-to-be born as well. We don’t know the gender, and have been pretty much “nameless” the first two times too. We ended up with a Sean and a Megan, both of which we love and have suited the kids perfectly. Boy names are harder than girls, I think. Good luck, and wish I could be of more help, but I am a sad case myself.
And right on with the nesting-I’m there with you, although we don’t have a dresser/charning table that’s nearly as cute as yours!

Name choosing is so tough…with both pregnancies I had we could easily choose a girl’s name, but struggled with boy’s names…good thing they were both girls!! One suggestion I have it to perhaps look at your family history..perhaps there is a great grandparent that has a nice name…if you want to make it your own you could always alter the spelling…most name these days have several variations.

So I guess you’re having a boy? I must’ve missed that post. Clive was on our long list…I just can’t imagine calling a tiny baby that. Of course, I feel the same way about George (though I love it for a toddler). Do you know what I mean? We have a Samuel. He’s Sam most of the time, and he has red hair. He’s perfect. Oliver is on our short list for the eventual #4 baby. We didn’t like one meaning we saw–elf army…lol, for real, but then we saw one that said “bringer of peace” and we are all over that. I know you’ll pick out the right name. It may take time, but I know you’ll do it! 🙂

The dresser is from IKEA and the only reason we bought it is because it matches our other dresser & since the baby will be in our room we thought it would work. It’s a tad high for a changing table, but we are both tall so I’m hoping it works (and there is always the bed or floor! I don’t think we ever changed Kate on a changing table!)

My two boys’ name aren’t traditional at all, but I love that about them. My oldest is Jacek (pronounced Jace with a K at the end) and my youngest is Keaton. I think boy names are hard too. I thought Jacek was a girl so we didn’t even have a boy name going into his birth. We initially were going for Kasten or Keaston, but ended up with Keaton. I’m of the mindset that you need to see the baby before you can name them. Sending beautiful healing birthing energy your way!

yay! You have comments again! Well, you know that I have exactly the same issue, so I can relate! I totally thought about you when we changed our baby’s name from Jackson to Jonah–luckily our paperwork hadn’t been submitted yet, so that majorly simplified things. The thing about names is that even if you get it wrong, kids grow into them. My parents still wish they would have named my sister something different, but after 18 years, her name fits her. All the same, I know how stressful it is!

I use the cloth Koplement drawer organizers from IKEA. They are sold in packages of 6 for about $10. I like that each pack contains different sizes. I think they would be perfect for little clothes.
Some baby boy names that I love: Brandon (shortened to Bran), Thatcher, Niles, Patrick, Caleb, Everett and Declan.
    Good luck with the naming!!

I actually do love George…enough to have a 3 year old boy named George Thomas. Love that name and honestly it fits him perfectly. Love love love that there aren’t many little boys with that name, too. I love Thomas, too. I am actually a bit sad that I can’t have a little Thomas or Tommy now that we already used that name! Simon, Oliver, Peirce. Those were some names I loved. And really, I know it feels stressful, like you should be prepared with the name the second you conceive..but who cares if the kid doesn’t have a name for a while. Having a deadline does always motivate me, but if your stuck, just wait until you think of one. And as for Kate’s name changing..I had cousins who were two years old when their names were changed. And they could care less. So, just roll with it.
*BTW, I have those IKEA organizers, for Garrett’s IKEA changing table (which is a dresser) and I love them too.
    Best of luck!

As for names– take this for what it’s worth…which I assure you, is not much. As you very well know, we SUCK at naming. However, if we ever do have another baby our top choices are:
Boy– Charlie (It was our top name last time too…just can’t let it go to waste), Nash, or Jones (My Mom’s maiden name.)
    Girl– Clare, Maggie, Lucy, Jane…
And knowing myself, when it comes down to it, I won’t use any of them. 😉

Ok… if you can, follow this very disjointed thought… Kate & Henry ( “On Golden Pond”)- wonderful classic Hollywood icon names – no nicknames, really to speak of… Kate and Cary GRANT – (“Bringing Up Baby”)…
Henry, Kate & Grant… You already mentioned Grant was a possibility, it gets my vote!

The Baby Name Wizard is a great book!
Since you are having a boy I will list the brother names they have listed for both Henry and Kate. Maybe that will help???
    Brother names listed with Kate:
    Andrew, Benjamin, Matthew, Nicholas, Alexander
    Brother names listed with Henry:
    Louis, George, Edward, Arthur, Frederick
This book gives you the history of the name and meaning and I have loved using it with naming each of my children.
I am a fan of sibling names going together myself. I have to say the names all together to make sure they go, just my thing. I know it won’t matter in the long run but that is how I am.
Boy names I like that go with your children’s names:
Grant, Harrison, James, Jack to name a few

I second the Baby Name Wizard – we used it with our second. We’ve not found out the sex both times and went into the delivery with two names picked out for boy and girl and waited till we met the baby. Our daughter was going to be either Clara Rose or Ruby Greer. (She’s Clara) Our son was going to be either Felix (and I can’t even remember the middle name lo these 17 months later…) or Jasper Neil. You can tell which one he was :o) I really liked Julius but the husband said no to that. Good luck, it really is a challenge.

I had that exact same name book! Thought it was just okay, but there’s so much out there online too. As for drawer organizers we got some really neat ones from Ikea. I use them for the girls’ drawers to organize all the tiny toys. I’m sure Ikea still has them.

I’ll just go with my boys names b/c I like them obviously, and they are pretty traditional like Henry and Kate. Patrick (John Patrick) and Geoffrey Morgan. The Morgan name came from a dream while I was pregnant and we were going to use it for a little girl, but decided to keep it for Geoffrey’s middle name. Just for the record, I found your blog a few months later! I took that as a sign I should keep it! 😉
