IMG_3039 A whole week  already? It was a busy one. We went to the farm last Monday to pick some pumpkins. Henry and I had spent the whole weekend getting out our Halloween decorations (2+ bins that are still quite full!) I'm glad I have a little holiday-lover, it makes them so much more fun to celebrate. IMG_3031
I am panicking a little that it's almost mid-October. There are still 2 costumes to make (I'm not budging on this- their costumes have to be handmade) and with a baby who is set to arrive next month, I'm feeling like Christmas needs to be all wrapped up before his arrival as I am sure I won't want to do a thing after he's born.IMG_3054 I drove the kids up to Utah this weekend for one last little getaway. It's chilly here. I had to go and buy them both socks yesterday. Neither of them own a single pair. We never ever wear socks. Flip-flops, salt-waters, there's just no need for them in Los Angeles. Kate was so weirded out today when I tried to put them on her. Henry resisted too, but then later could not resist putting his feet in my face after pulling his socks off "see they aren't stinky!" (I'd still rather go for the stink.)IMG_3068
Okay, I lied. I think Kate has 1 or 2 pair, as evidenced in the above photo of her on her first pony ride at the farm. It was chilly that day. Anyway, she loved riding on Marshmallow. IMG_3078
Henry chose this pumpkin. Apparently it is of the 'millionaire' variety (at least that's what the lady at checkout told us…and why it was twice the cost of the other pumpkins…humph?)IMG_3082Kate was happy as a clam with this little one and I think it suits her perfectly.IMG_3077 Looking forward to a fun, and hopefully relaxing, week here in Utah. Hoping baby doesn't decide to come early (what am I thinking- both babies went a week past their due date!) and still trying to justify that it's perfectly acceptable to try to pass off wearing my black stretchy straight-legged pajama bottoms as regular people pants whilst in public. At this point even the maternity clothes are getting a bit well, ahem….snug. I just need the comfort people!

Happy October!

Pregnancy is a free pass to wear whatever you want in public. I say wear the pajama pants proudly! Being so uncomfortable in your own body gives you the right to at least wear something comfy. (At least that’s what I tell myself when I’m pregnant!)
I’ve had to buy cold-weather clothes for my kids, too. I thought with a 2nd girl I was so lucky that I wouldn’t have to buy any more clothes, but I opened up the 12-18 month bin to find more tank tops and shorts. Guess we were a little weather-spoiled in LA (though I’m loving the chill in the air here!) So we got to go on a little shopping trip for long sleeves, pants, and a jacket!
Good luck with everything! You already have so much on your plate. Having had both my babies in the fall, I can empathize with the feeling that you have to get everything ready for the holidays before baby gets here… and as if being 9-months pregnant and having to get ready for a baby isn’t enough.

i always love the photos of your outings, morgan. so crisp and romantic and beautiful.
have fun in utah and just remember that it doesn’t have to be the ultimate christmas this year–or that the ultimate christmas isn’t as much about the gifts as the being together.

7 months along and proudly wore my black stretchy/yoga-ish pants to the grocery store yesterday, I suspect as the weather gets colder I’ll wear them everyday!
Hope this baby is on time for you, and very healthy!! Hang in there!

What great photos at the pumpkin patch. Your kids are so cute. Utah has been chilly but then it warms up a little in the day. I love the Utah fall. Enjoy the leaves and the fall weather this week in Utah. Thanks for sharing your fall festivities!

We’ve been scrounging for socks too. Where do they all go? I made your apple crumb pie last week- so good. Also whipped up those evil chocolate killer bars. Deadly. Thanks for taking the time to post recipes, we enjoy so many of them!

So true, Michal- Christmas is pretty low key usually. We never go crazy- I’d just like to have at least something homemade for each of the children… I’m running out of time!

I would suggest a drive up the mountains to see the leaves. The Nebo loop is very popular. If I remember right, there is a nice walk part way through with a boardwalk. I bet the kids would enjoy it. You might enjoy Gardner Village too. On Saturdays, they have witches out with treats. Not the scary kid but the fun kind. If it works out, they have a restaurant you could do lunch. Thanksgiving point also has their fall festivities in full swing. There are also corn mazes everywhere. Some are good for kids. These are all in the Salt Lake area. I don’t know where abouts you are or if these fit in your plans. Feel free to email me if you want more information. 🙂
Love your blog. I know you know that already.

Wear the pants! I always tell myself, if people want to pass judgement on a pregnant lady (well baring things like drinking and smoking while you are pregnant) they can try being pregnant themselves!
    Wear the pants!
p.s. Check my blog, i posted on some maternity pants I “made” from ready to wear. may be an inexpensive way to make do for the next couple of months!
