Chris' twin brother (also known as the Brother-husband. Everyone should get one. They are so helpful) came to town last weekend from Utah on a layover to Hawaii. One afternoon, we decided to take a drive. We drove until ended up here:

Solvang
2 hours and 140 miles north of LA. We ended up in Solvang.

We went shortly after Kate was born, in June- but haven't been back since. And speaking of that Kate:

As I was looking at this photo I just noticed that the sign on the storefront behind her says Kate. It was meant to be. And the boys? Well, here's all 3 of them:

Most of the shops in Solvang have storks perched on top of the roof. Do you know why?

It's for good luck, of course!

We really had such a lovely time. All the sight-seeing made our little group a bit hungry so we stopped in the next town for some grub. And you'd better believe that there was no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks that we were gonna pass this place up:

Wagons on the rooftop? You kiddin' me? No further dinner discussion was necessary. Don't be fooled by the Western-motiff. That wagon place cost a pretty penny. The brother-husband said it best,
"Someone's gotta pay for that stuffed buffalo in the lobby."

So very true.

Have a great weekend!

It looks a lot calmer there now than it did a few weeks ago when the Tour of California was racing through. We’ve never visited Solvang but I bet my kids would love it.

Yes…..I recognized it right away and I haven’t been there since the early ’70’s. I guess some places never change. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

We’re planning a marathon drive from AZ to OR via CA this June, that looks like a good place to stop and let the kids run around- thanks for the tip!

beeing a Dane, living in Denmark, this is sooo funny to see.. remember when you where up there last time.. 🙂 Most of the signs are in danish, with danish names.. And the Storcks are on the rooftops, because, eventhough there are not many left, that is where they mostly live when they are in Denmark, on the rooftops ind a huge nest… So it is very typical danish… http://www.buhund.eu/foto/steder/daugbjerg/20.jpg Like this… 🙂

Looks like a fun trip Morgan. You’ve inspired me to put on my driving shoes and take a trip up the coast.
Kate is growing up to be such a little cutie. I think Pink is definitely her color. She always looks so cute in her pictures dressed in Pink 🙂

Ahhhh Solvang, I’ve been wanting to go there again for a while. This will have to tide me over for a bit. Love the sweet kid action. That baby has a nice smile.

We went to Solvang back in August. We ate pastries in the park and I bought the cutest little gnome buttons. I miss Solvang, unfortunately I’m the only one.

Hi! I grew up on a farm by Los Alamos, just North of Solvang and we used to go there with my Aunties to shop and eat at the Danish bakeries. My dad grew up in Ballard and Santa Ynez, just around the corner from Solvang and later worked as an insurance agent in Solvang. So I loved seeing this post! Every time we visit my family we make a trip to Solvang.

OH, How I love Solvang…I want to retire in Solvang…But I have many years until retirement. My husband feels like we may never retire with the way things are today. We were just in Solvang the weekend of the 13th. My husband is a cyclist and they have a 100 mile ride that he does every year. Did you try the aebelskivers? YUM!
