Last night at Grammies. The boys on the roof, picking avocados from her tree at dusk. And now, I have about 2 dozen. I'm such a lucky duck.

My Dad told me that I used to eat at least one of these a day. We had 2 avocado tree's. One in the front of the house, one in the back. I actually drove by our old house in Whittier. Wanna see it? The house with the avocado tree's? Okay…House
I LOVE this house. I miss this house so much. The picket fence and green trim are new. But last time I was there I noticed they cut down the avocado tree!  The horror! Michal, I drove by your old house, too which holds just as many wonderful memories for me. So anyway, I've got avocado's coming out the wazoo. My Dad froze guacamole and it turned out pretty good. I'll have to get online to find some good recipes and definitely puree and freeze some for Kate.
IMG_3004 Totally unrelated: new flats and wide leg pants are making me very happy today.

I’m loving the flats and wide-leg pants, too. You have every reason to be happy about those!
Brian’s parents have an avocado orchard, so we always get loaded up with avocados every time we visit. It’s awesome. I get totally spoiled and we have guacamole for days until I’m totally addicted to it. Then it’s so depressing to go to the grocery store and find a single avocado for $2.50! (Just for another idea, avocado is really yummy sliced up on a piece of toast with a fried egg. Probably not the healthiest option, but it’s one of my favorites!)

It kinda hurts to see the old house. I dreamt about it for years after we moved from there. Such sweet memories …..

Mmm guacamole. My new mexican cookbook suggests using a little ricotta and pomegranate seeds in your guacamole. Just a thought for what to do with those =)

those are the creamiest, best type of avocado, too. we used to have several trees in our old whittier backyard but they have all stopped producing fruit.
that house is the one i always picture when i think of you and your family. it doesn’t matter that it’s been over 20 years since you left it. it’s still your house.

Is one of the guys on the roof (If my silhouette guessing capabilities are serving me well, it’s the one who is NOT Chirs) — anyway, is he wearing snow shoes or something for traction? Or skis for an easy roof dismount?
How lucky to have avocado trees! And your childhood home is so storybookish, I’m in love!
