Today while walking home from church, the children & I stopped on the temple grounds (our church building is directly behind the temple.) It was unusually quiet. No helicopters overhead, no protesters in front of the gates. I hadn't realized that the Christmas balls had already been set up in preparation for the upcoming season. I have such vivid memories of coming here with my family when I was small. Watching church movies at the visitors center, standing on top of the vents with our dresses on, seeing just how big and high they'd blow. It was so quiet and calm and peaceful today.

Did you know that last Sunday, while walking through protesters I had to ask a man dressed in a CHICKEN SUIT to kindly 'scooch his pooch' so I could get into church? Really. No, really. For the record, no one I know thinks that chickens have more rights than you, so you can take it off now. Really. No, really.

we’re not having to deal with this here in NM. Many of our friends and families are. I;m not sure what will happen here… but I love this picture! Your littles look as cozy as they would on their own living room floor!

It is nice to hear that the temple grounds are back to their sweet, peaceful, sleepy ways. The way it should be. the kids do look so relaxed and happy on the grass.

I guess it was pretty crazy at Temple Square the other day. Reed was downtown at the time and he could hear all the protesters from several blocks away. I hope that things can stay calm.

I am envious of that really green grass! But what protests are you speaking of? I couldn’t imaging having to walk through a protest to go to church!

aw, we were married there almost 11 years ago! Glad the grounds were calm and peaceful! I kept waiting for a backlash here in az, but so far people have taken it to the statehouse, not the temple grounds.

I feel so bad for those in Calif. who had to put up with a lot of that stuff. The sad thing is I’m sure it will get worse, I would just love to beam myself and my family up.

i love that you got to enjoy the peace of the temple grounds again. the word is that the peace never left on the inside, where the noise of the protesters couldn’t enter.
how lucky you are to attend church on the temple grounds, where your kids get to see the temple weekly.

while I am for prop 8, I don’t blame you or your church. I have happily lived across the street from the temple for several years and always loved seeing the lights from my bedroom window. I am happy that you are not allowing those exercising their rights keep you from enjoying yours.
    BTW love your blog

I started reading your blog after I found your apron tutorial and continued during the NieNie fundraiser. It’s great to know you’re LDS too! Crazy world, I was just at the Westwood building for a baby blessing today. My brother- and sister-in-law are in the UCLA ward. I live a little further inland. Love reading your blog.
