FarmersOn Tuesday, the children & I went to one of our many local farmer's
markets. No real agenda, just wandered around, trying to get inspired
for dinner. We ended up with this:

Dill
Chris has been walking around with the black lung, so I decided Chicken Noodle Soup would be easy enough (and a great way to use some of that canned chicken!) We nibbled on a delicious blueberry muffin and left with a token squash & pumpkin, picked out by yours truly:Gourds
It feels like things are starting to slow down. It's a much-needed slow down, too. All the loose ends are finally getting tied up and the weight is being lifted. I've got Christmas on the brain and am vowing to keep these next 2 months very low key. I want to make sure there's time to do everything I want to do. Baking, crafting, Christmas-making. I want to make a spring dress for Kate, jammies for Henry (it's tradition) and hmm..what for Chris…I think I'm going to try ties.

I hit my favorite downtown LA fabric store on Monday and literally ran into Rami Kashou. We were exiting the store at the same time and standing on the curb, waiting for cars to pass so we could run across to ours (which were coincidently parked next to eachother.) I had Henry & Kate with me. Henry had a blue balloon from the store that kept hitting Rami in the head/face.  "I'm so sorry!" I kept saying. Henry kept shouting, "Were going to have a party in the car! We're going to have a party in the car!" It made him smile and it took absolutely everything in me from shouting "YOU SHOULD HAVE WON!!!" He totally should have won.

I'm remembering I didn't tell you that we sat across from Danny & Rhea over the Summer. We were eating at this great little Japanese Noodle House (Asahi Ramen for you locals) and there they were. He was so microscopically tiny, I just wanted to throw him in my diaper bag and bring him home. Now would be a perfect time to upload lost footage of myself in my movie debut with THE Brian Dennehey, but alas you'll have to wait. I just wanted to give you some time to pop some corn. You'll need it.
Kate

So totally unrelated, (I need to post more frequently as to not overwhelm…) I lost my sling. Blah. Somewhere between Utah and California. I need something to carry that little monkey in. I had this sling for over 3 years and loved it. I carried Henry in it until he was quite big. Now, I need another sling. I know there's a billion slings these days and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with this one again. The only thing I don't like is I can't carry her on my back, which would be so useful at times. So I'll  be looking into that, at  my leisure.

You’re in SLC area, right? First, I have a variety of slings/carriers that I’m using with my kids(back/front pack, MeiTai, Ring Slings, wraps), so if you want to try them out and see what kind you like better, just drop me a line 😉
And second… I must know where did you find Farmer’s Market this time of year? I thought the Downtown one was supposed to last only till mid-October, or did that change this year?

yum. that farmers market looks great.. we have a few here and there around where we live but it’s all getting too cold here to keep going.
That’s too bad about the sling, my neighbor says think good thoughts and excactly what you want, and you will get it.. so keep positive thoughts 😀

Hi! I’m delurking to recommend you look into the Maya Wrap. It seems very similar to the one you’re using, but I’ve been able to carry my toddler on my back in it. There’s also a way to carry two kids at once with one sling, and I’m sure you can find a free baby-wearing class through la leche league if you needed tips not offered on the DVD.
I’ve also heard the Moby is a great one too. That’s the really long rectangle you wrap and knot. I’m actually looking into it now since my second son prefers to have his legs free while facing outward, is too young to really support himself upright, and is too big for a Baby Bjorn.

I am also selling some slings – they are just like the one you used. Very cute fabric. And FYI…you can wear them on your back – you put them on your hip and then move them to back! Its super easy! I LOVE your blog!

Hi Morgan, I love using our Ergo. I tried 4 different slings with my little one, and the Ergo is the only one she liked. I like it because you can carry a little one on the front, back, or even side! And you can get an infant insert so when you have a REALLY little one, you can carry them safely too!

    Hey Morgan,
I have that sling (I think it’s the same as your old one), but am not using it with my little one. Want it? I could send it down. I’d have to check and make sure it’s the right size and all, just let me know.

I love local farmer’s markets. Everything tastes so much better, and I love that they would give us free samples. Look at how big Kate is getting. She’s older now than Henry was when I first met you.

I love, love, love my Ergo. My daughter always loved to upright, and never took to the traditional sling type. She’s 2 3/4, and I still sometimes carry her in it (not to her liking so much these days). It’s no problem to put them on your back with it – that’s how I carried her from about 1 year and on.

Rami, Rami. You shop at the same store as Rami? Wow. Ha! Although I don’t think he should have won… I really liked Christian’s, but I don’t like Christian.
I am so glad what’s her face didn’t win this last season. She bugged soooo bad, always crying… boo hoo. Oh, but we loved that guy named after Superman… I’m terrible with names. I’m having on of my classic brain farts.
you wanna go to Disneyland the Wed. before Thanksgiving?

A few things. 1) Rami totally should have won – I agree a thousand times over. I am so jealous that you saw him! 2) I’m sure you’ve been there, but you should check out The Pump Station in Santa Monica for slings. They even have a sling clinic where you can try on all kinds and see which one works for both you and Kate. That’s where Emma and I found our sling and we love it!
