Every Sunday it's the same story: I have nothing to wear. The closet, in mere seconds, looks as if it were hit by a tornado. I tear it apart hoping that magically a long lost skirt has made it's way in there. No such luck. It's not a matter of fit (well, naturally I'm not into my pre-pregnancy clothes so those are totally off limits anyway), but hello who knew it was harder than h-e-double-hockey-sticks to find a long skirt? I mean seriously, when did they stop manufacturing them? I can't find them anywhere. Every Saturday I search high and low and always come home empty handed. I am in no position to be wearing short skirts and I can assure you the general public is in no position to see me in short skirts. So last Saturday, I took matters into my own hands and made my own. I wanted something long, almost to the floor, lightweight and full/flowey-ish. I went with a pale green & white stripped seersucker. Probaly not the best for a skirt, but it got the job done and I'm happy with it. It's not quite as full as I want, but I bought 3 other fabrics to make additional skirts with this week, so we'll see how those go. Oh and the flowers were a very quick and last minute addition. An embelishment, if you will.

And these, these little buggers are seriously prohibiting any future post-baby weight loss. I made them last week for a BBQ and thought I'd share. Chris loves peanut butter & chocolate. Be warned, I can assure you there is zero nutritional content in these bad boys (okay maybe a little from the peanut butter :)

Peanut Butter Bars
1 c. butter
1 c peanut butter
2 c graham cracker crumbs
2 c powdered sugar

1 1/2 c semi-sweet choco chips
4 Tbsp peanut butter

Directions: Melt butter & 1 c peanut butter. Add graham cracker crumbs and powdered sugar. Mix until well blended. Press into ungreased 9"x 13" pan. Melt choco chips with 4 Tbsp peanut butter (either on stovetop or microwave) and spread on top of graham cracker mixture. Refridgerate for at least 1 hour.

I wish I could have you all over for some peanut butter bars. You have been so generous and kind and nice to me and your sweet comments mean so much. I feel like everytime someone comments it's like an old friend knocking on the front door, stopping in for a quick hello. So thank you. Thanks for stopping in, dear friends.

xoxo

The peanut butter cups look so good! There was a little bakery I used to frequent when I was in college, that made something similar to these. I quickly became addicted. Thank you for posting the recipe! I’m hoping these turn out like the ones I remember. 🙂

I made something similiar to those bars recently. I mixed together equal amounts of peanut butter and powdered sugar. I formed balls, then they need to be frozen for 30-60 minutes, then I dipped them in melted chocolate. Let them sit in the fridge until the chocolate is hardened. Heaven in your mouth. For reals.
I’d love to see the other skirts too!

The skirt looks like it is very cute but I would like to see the rest of it. I too have been having the same problem as you and I am attempting a skirt. I just need to get to the store for a zipper. I was brave and attempted making my own pattern. I had issues with the one that I bought. So with the help of the internet I got brave. Oh those peanut butter bars look wonderful.

I am soooo going to make those peanut butter bars. Do you think it will still work if I substitute white choco chips because that’s what I happen to have at home right now.

The skirt flowers are adorable — how do you make those? I love to sew for my girls and they would both love more embellishments.

I’ve used that same recipe for years but I cut them into 1 inch squares for Christmas goody trays. They are ALWAYS the first to go.

Oh snap…those bars look so good, I’m sure I’d eat the whole pan! Isn’t peanut butter the best thing ever? Did you use a pattern for your skirts? I have the hardest time trying to get them to fit right. It is horrible to spend the time of making it…only to find that it fits funky. Perhaps it has something to do with “eating the whole pan”. 🙂

I don’t believe you that long skirts are what you should be wearing! I was watching an episode of Tim Gunn’s Guide To Fashion, and one of the gals wore nothing but long skirts, and he got her to wear a knee-length skirt and she looked SO much better. She was not skinny, but the shape you get with a knee-length skirt is something else!
We curvy gals gotta show off our curves!
Thanks for the PB bar recipe!

Hi, I know this is an old blog, but it popped up on Pinterest and i love it!
I’m from Australia – just wondering what measurement the “c” is when you say 1 c butter etc. Is it a cup?
    Thanks.

    I don’t know if anyone answered you, but yes . . . the “c” is for cup. And, just in case, a “T” is tablespoon and “t” is teaspoon. Go Australia! {My husband is from New Castle.}

even after chilling? I notice a difference in consistancy if using organic peanut butter, they tend to be a little looser but If they hae been really chilled then they are still firm.. DOuble check your measurements, in my experince I always double check my butter very frequently the amount wrapped as a 1/2c is usally a bit more so that may contribute to them being a bit runny… Good luck 🙂

I was going to ask the same question! Did you try them? And did they work out? Just wondering as I’ve recently found out a tablespoon is usually 15ml, but some Aust recipes call for 20ml tbsp. shaking head
