Miracle of miracles, I have almost completed the top of Henry’s quilt. But truth be told. I don’t love it. I decided to ditch the turquoise and go for a pale blue instead along with a few other solids. But I was really wanting to love it and I don’t. I think it’s because I loved that woodland fabric so much and it feels so lost in this big quilt. Kind of washed out, no? I don’t know. There is the patchwork in the middle and then a creme border and then smaller 3" pieces that go around the border. It’s still not big enough for a twin size bed, so I’m thinking of adding a brown solid border around the outside. I don’t know. I think the white border is kind of washing everything out. I think once I get it quilted and washed and shrunken and snuggly and worn, it may start to grow on me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
So I said that I wasn’t going to buy any fabric for this quilt but we decided to have a family outing to Joann on Saturday for some solid colored broadcloth.
And it’s a good thing we did. Enter: Celebrity sighting. So I’m walking to the cutting table and briefly lock eyes with another customer who is getting his fabric cut. ‘Who is that???’ My mind was racing. Got it. It was Phil. Good ‘ole Phil. Awesome. Awesome in more ways than one. 1) Phil is at Joanne’s. Actually that’s reason enough. Do I really need to go on? Okay. I will. 2) You aren’t just at the fabric store, you are at the cutting table. Getting fabric cut. By yourself. 3) You are there with your pre-teen daughter and her 2 friends and you give her a big hug, in the middle of the store. Phil, I always liked you. Now I really like you.
For the March Quilting Bee, we worked on Kathy’s squares. I received the top blue polky fabric and the diamond fabric in the center. Kathy gave us these sites to use as inspiration and wanted us to do a variation on a standard log cabin square. So there you have it.
Have a lovely Tuesday!
xoxo
