Img_20070919_2399_2Back in September, we went home to Utah for my sisters wedding. Early one morning she snuck in to take a picture of Henry & I sleeping. It was a chilly September morning and we were huddled close, keeping each other warm. Henry’s now moved into his own room, but boy, I sure miss co-sleeping. He co-slept with us for 2 1/2 years. We still get snuggle time in when we take naps together, but he’s growing up and these times are now replaced by a new found Independence. A new bed. A new room. He wants to sleep in there now, don’tcha’know?? Where there is an igloo tent, flashlights and hiding under covers. That’s much funner than Mama’s room, anyway. I just weaned him, too after 2 1/2 years of nursing, which I think we were both ready for. I only second guess myself when he see’s me naked and starts jumping up at me like a little puppy, making slurping noises, trying to get to ‘the non-existent milk.’ He thinks it’s pretty funny. A new baby is on the way and it was time (by the way, i LOVED this post on nursing. Brilliant.) Lots of changes going on ’round these parts.

What I also love: An afternoon at the Getty Villa (thanks for hanging out, too Heidi and baby Teddy.) No, it wasn’t raining, but the  big basket of umbrella’s were just too temping for a certain 2 1/2 year old.

congrats on the new baby AND on the positive experience with nursing your child.
people are so funny. many of our grandmother’s and great grandmother’s had no other option and it all worked out quite well. as a matter of fact, you just reminded me that my own grandmother was a wet nurse back around the turn of the century. i always thought that was totally cool.

Oh so so sweet. I can so relate too. My little guy (turned 3 in Nov) is sleeping in his own room now. Oh the lure of Thomas sheets and to think he made the switch fairly quickly. We weaned in June too and my son still wants to cuddle the nummies, etc.

Hey, not sure if we’ve given you guys a conratulations yet. So Congrats! Bethany and I are expecting too! Sometime in September. Good to hear he’s in his own room, it can be rough. Kelby still asks to come to our room, but she’s been in her own room for some time now. But it’s not always easy. Well keep up the good work!

That picture is too adorable. I love that Henry is a cuddler. No such luck with Libby. I get an elbow to the chest every time I try to cuddle with her. She just wants to play and can’t sit still for one second. Which is why I loved nursing because it was really our only snuggle time! It’s funny how people thought I was crazy for not using formula and for nursing for so long… and I “only” breastfed for 15 months! I think it’s just great to do what is right for you and your kid, and no one else can dictate what that is. Great job, Morgan!

Wow, absolutely no nursing and both children were in their own rooms from the moment they got home from the hospital. Raised two healthy and very happy daughters with children of their own. What ever works for you, I think, is the most important thing.

I was just wondering if Henry was still sleeping with you and you were all going to be one big happy family in the bed with the new baby. That picture is darling! I hope you guys are still able to get together this weekend because we really want to see you!

I think the best part about the picture is how much you and Henry look alike. I LOVE that you sleep the same. He is his Mama’s son 🙂 I love it!!! Keep him snuggling as long as you can!

What a wonderful photo! It will be even more of a treasure when he is grown.
On the whole sleeping in his own bed….mine is 5 and I can’t get him out. We put him to bed and he sneaks in later. We take him back and he comes back….on and on. I figure he will stop when he gets ready too, but we keep urging him to go it alone. 🙂

I just wanted to poke my head in the door to see how you are doing. What a darling picture of you and your son. They get bigger too fast. I want to freeze frame the 2.5 to 3yo period. I only wish that I too was pregnant, but I have yet to be convincing on number three. I just ache for a girl. You get to buy pink! What fun!! I can’t wait to see your shabby chic little one. Hope you are having a great week and a little dose of chocolate does make everything better.

I love that picture. It is so priceless. I love to snuggle with my kids. They sleep so much better and longer, which means more sleep for me! Yeah! How are you feeling? When is your official due date?
