Img_3499"My mother was about to make another brilliant maneuver in the legendary
battle of the lamp. The epic struggle which follows lives in the
folklore of Cleveland Street to this very day."

‘Don’t want to waste electricity.’

It finally arrived. I ordered it so long ago, I was beginning to wonder if it was actually ever going to come.

Tacky? Oh, sure.

Kitsch? Definitely.

Years ago, friends came over for Christmas dinner with a similar lamp. After a hearty meal, I looked over to see 4 grown men (husband included) huddled around said lamp in a chocolate-induced coma, staring glassy-eyed, mezmerized by it’s soft glow.

Another case of life imitating art.

Love the Lamp! As a child my siblings and I would watch A Christmas Story at least 10 times each Christmas Season! We had a VHS recorded version of it (legal I’m sure) that surely wore out over time. I had no idea they even sold lamps like that! Great find!
    Excited to see you soon!

That’s some major award! damn hell, you say you won that?
You must check out this website: http://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com. Some guy actually purchased the original Christmas Story house and has devoted his time to recreating the magic inside. He now lives a house across the street and has a booming business selling leg lamps (“statues”), decoder pins, and the like. There is even a Chinese restaurant down the street that will serve you the popular Chinese Turkey and serende you in “Fa-ra-ra-ra-rah”s!

I heard a thing about the guy who makes these on NPR the other day. He also bought the house that the film was made in, and restored it to film vintage….he runs a Christmas story museum out of it.

I have purchased a Martha Stewart igloo cake pan off ebay but it didn’t come with the recipe book. I Was doing a search for the recipe book and I saw your post (love it) and was wondering if you could copy your book and e-mail me. My son is in boy scouts and they are having a cake auction with a winter wonderland theme. My plan is to do the igloo cake but I don’t have the recipe book. The cake is due on friday January 19th I would greatly appreciate it. Looking forward to hearing from you.
