Well, we officially packed up our place in MA and threw everything into a storage unit. For now, we are staying with family while we look for a new place to live, but more on that later 🙂 I wanted to pop in to tell you about a class I am co-teaching with my Mom this month. She's come up with 3 amazing patriotic projects for you all to make, one of which is this altered book.
Super adorable, right? You'll also be making this free-standing tabletop rocket:
Everyone needs a shooting rocket as a centerpiece this 4th of July!
And last but not least, the 3rd project is a "Freedom" banner:
And here's a closer look:
And if 3 projects isn't enough, I'm also going to be teaching you how to make some fun summery desserts and will send you home with the recipes. I clearly got the easy part of this! But wait there is MORE! A light dinner will also be served! Interested? Of course you are! Here are the details:
The class is being offered on 2 separate nights, hopefully one will work for you. You will be able to complete all the projects in one evening.

Book for the Altered Book*
A note from Mom about the Altered Book ~ you will need to provide your own book. I suggest checking DI or your bookshelves. I used one from my childhood collection and is part of the 'Honey Bunch' series. The delightful pictures of the children in sailor outfits are inside the cover. If you'd like, I can reproduce them for you to attach inside your book. The page with the pictures measures 4 3/4 x 7 3/8 if you want them to fit perfectly. If your book is larger, you can attach a patterned paper and then add the pictures. I'll need to know by the registration deadline if you want copies (no extra charge). Otherwise, I'll have patterned paper for you to attach to the inside of your books. Or you can leave them as is.
You can also choose the saying you want to stamp on the banner of your book. I chose "Let freedom ring" for patriotic reasons and because the children seem to be enjoying the freedom of a summer day.
Tabletop Rocket ~ Ready for take-off; the sky's the limit!!! The patriotic colors of the fringe look like fireworks going off beneath the rocket. My rocket portrays Betsy Ross sewing the flag, but I'll have a couple choices for you to choose from.
Cost for the class is $30
