I have a new favorite salad. A salad that involves dried cranberries, goat cheese & sugared pecans. You can buy your own sugared pecans but they are so easy to make, you should just make them instead (famous last words.)
I've made sugared pecans a few times in my day and it seems like more recently I've been running into recipes where they allegedly claim that you can make sugared pecan's in a crock-pot. A crock-pot for crying out loud.
The ingredients are basically the same but instead of hovering over a stove stirring and keeping a watchful eye, there is only the occasional stir that's needed over an approximate 2 hour time period.
And in the end, you are left with crunchy, sweet, delicious sugared pecans.
Or so they say.
The crock-pot method totally did not work out as well as I thought it would. Maybe it was just me. I was putting them in the oven, trying to dry them out (the crock-pot never entirely got rid of all the liquid like the stove top typically does). In the end, they turned out, but I've got to simplify this process. I must, I must.
Just wanted to let you know that's not going to be happening anytime soon.
I have puking children who have a slight priority over sugaring pecan's.
Will it never end?
