The trip to San Francisco only lasted a few days but we knew for sure that we wanted to drive down the PCH through Carmel & Big Sur on our way home. Though a comedy of not-so-hilarious events (read: lots of traffic & accidents) we finally made it to Carmel around 2. We drove down the coast to just about where that bridge is in the picture and the PCH was closed. CLOSED! We had to turn around and drive all the way back up. Balls!
Kate immediately ripped the clothes off the new birthday doll Michelle gave her and let that 'Tangled' hair flow! Instead of going all the way back to the 5, I found a road through Carmel Valley that would get us down to where were wanted to go (we'd abandoned any and all hopes of taking the coast all the way home). So we went for it. We saw cows:
and more cows, and lots and lots of gorgeous scenery.
It was not too soon after this that Charlie's little tummy started rumbling and you guessed it- he puked again. The road was really windey and his motion sickness set in.
So we pulled over in this exact spot. I unzipped the suitcase just enough to slip my arm in and grab a change of clothes for him and lo and behold, I grabbed Kate's pink stripped leggings. It was like going home for Charlie.
Post-puke and pleased as punch.
The road we traveled was gorgeous but very, very long. It took us over 2 hours to go about 50 miles.
And then just around the bend, we came upon this tree. "What is that in the tree??" I get out for further investigation just in time to hear Chris yelling from the car, "Throw yours up there!!"
You guessed it, a tree with shoes & bras hanging from it. What does that even mean? I called Michelle and asked her. She asked if I googled it to find out. I did not. Did I throw mine up? You will never know.
What should have only taken about 5 1/2 hours to get home, took 12. We've never been so happy to be home. But it was gorgeous. And we saw bras. Hanging from tree's. Who wouldn't want that?
I am taking Charlie in for surgery on Wednesday which I am just a little nervous about. Not so much the surgery part but the whole 'he can't eat for 6 hours before surgery' part. Especially because his surgery is in the middle of the day (who does that??)
Keep you posted.
