Simply Aprons Depending on how long you've been reading this blog, you may or may not remember way back when (April of 2008 to be exact) I had one of my apron patterns published in a book called "A is for Aprons". The publishers took 12 patterns from that book and created this new book "Simply Aprons" which features a pattern from yours truly. The book won't be available to ship until March 1st but I received my advance copy on Monday along with an additional copy that I have decided to give away here on ye olde blog. So if you want to win a copy just leave a comment (yes, stop the press- the comments are opening back up!) and tell me what your weekend plans are. Mine…hmm… Mexican restaurant with friends tomorrow night and I think that's it. Oh I just remembered it's a holiday weekend! We'll have to do something fun on Monday.

Now- for my other celebrity sighting (this one is for you, Elaine W.) I decided to expand my television watching to incorporate a few more shows. Call it a New Years resolution if you will. Right now I've only got about 4-5 shows in my television rotation. I became oddly intrigued by the show "Hoarders" and set it up on TiVo. That show…yikes! I am here to admit that I am a craft & fabric hoarder. Send in Dr. Zasio stat! I like her;  she reminds me of my old neighbor, Rita, who by the way was an extra in a few "Leave it to Beaver" episodes while in her youth. I digress.

It was a cold, dark, night (as all stories should begin) and I was at the .99 cent store picking up valentines stuff for Henry's party and lo and behold who do I run into? Dr. Robin Zasio? No- I wish! ….wait for it….AN ACTUAL HOARDER WHO WAS FEATURED ON THE SHOW. What's even more impressive is that it took me about a 1/2 second to realize who this person was. I didn't even have to think about it. No, "hmm..that person looks familiar." And I know you are wondering- the answer is 'no' they were not hoarding stuff from the dollar store.

So, leave a comment, tell me what you are doing/did this weekend OR tell me of your best celebrity sighting. I'll leave the contest open until Mon. or Tues  Wednedsay because of the holiday!

Have a good one!

***I found it! I had to go back to 2007! The apron pattern in the book is for this Apron***

It’s a long weekend for us, and since is supposed to be cold and rainy in SoCal, we’ll probably end up going to the Palm Springs area for the day to soak up some sunshine.

    Those aprons look super cute!
Celebrity sightings, huh? One time I was at an airport waiting for my flight and I saw this familiar woman walking nearby and as I was trying to place her she looked straight at me (sort of a glare) and I realized that it was Courtney Love. But my favorite sighting was when I was tagging along on my husband’s business trip to NYC several years ago. We were walking to a restaurant and saw Hugh Jackman (and he was even more handsome in person)!

I have almost no plans this weekend… stupid rain. Best celebrity sighting, sadly, Wayne Newton at the Vegas airport… we see a decent amount of athletes… but only A’s and no one really knows who they are!

My husband and I were going to Paris and as we were walking into LAX we saw Katherine Heigl walking in. When we were going to Ireland on our honeymoon, we walked onto the plane and Smokey Robinson was sitting right there in first class. Only two times i’ve ever been to Europe and saw celebrities on both 🙂

Best celebrity sighting? Palin/McCain at rally I covered as a reporter. Don’t know if that counts as a sighting, but they’re really the only famous people I’ve seen.

My weekend is including a funeral for a 40 year old friend after a 6 year battle with cancer.
That’s sad so I’ll tell you about a celebrity siting. I grew up in Van Nuys. One New Year’s Eve (late afternoon) I went to the Galleria mall and Michael Jackson was there. It was the white glove era. My mom thought I was making it up but it was really him. I also saw Dustin Hoffman at UCLA when he was researching autism for “Rainman”. And Jan Brady visited my jr. high once. There are more but I’ll stop with those.
And I have the A is for Apron book. Congrats on the new one!!

Morgan- just knowing you is my claim to blogger fame. Other famous people I have seen… My sister went on a few dates with Jimmy Osmond, I met him in my living room. Jewel stood right next to me during a Peter Murphy concert. I ate dinner at a taco time with a few of the skankin pickle band members. I guess that’s about it.
This weekend my sister and family are taking their little girl that they adopted, to the temple. So we get to enjoy time with my extended family.

Famous sighting… In 70’s I worked for an orthopedic surgeon. Robert Redford broke his hand skiing and I assisted the doctor put the cast on him. Later in 80’s we were in Prestwich Farms restaurant and John Denver and a group of people had dinner in the booth next to us.

Tonight we are going over to a new young LT’s. house for a housewarming…younger guys so I am making black bean salsa to take.

While in highschool, our student council used to go up to sit in the audience of Family Fued to earn money for activities. After a taping, we went to the mall in LA and saw Tori Spelling at the food court. This is when 90210 was our favorite show (shame) and we all ran up to get a photo with her. That’s as good as it gets. Well, besides the time I saw Donnie Osmond at the U-Haul rental in Provo!

A real life hoarder — so cool. Living in Southern California, I’ve seen a lot of famous people, but usually after someone points them out– I’m extremely unobservant w/it comes to people watching. I have a nasty sinus infection this weekend. Fun Times.

I had close encounters with Alan Thicke, twice, in two different states, two years in a row. In fact, I thought he might be stalking me. The first encounter was on a golf course in Scottsdale, AZ. He and his lady partner were warming up next to me and my husband. The next year, I was in Vegas with my sister when he got off an elevator with a boy who looked about 10 years old. The boy had a big cardboard check, and Alan was telling him “good luck spending that”. Funny.

This weekend I finally starting cutting into some fabric I purchased for an AMAZING price a couple years ago to recover an old rocker/swivel upholstered chair with an ottoman. I’ve removed the old velvet “granny pink” fabric and I’m using it as a pattern for the new cover. I must keep myself motivated during this coming week because the beginnings of my long awaited recover project has now taken over my kitchen table. 🙂
As far as sightings go, I haven’t “sighted” any celebrities. I’m the kind of person who hangs out after a concert to actually shake the hand of or hug the celebrity! So, I’ve had plenty of that. But as far as sightings go, I’ve had a life long desire to run into Steve Perry (old Journey band days, Steve Perry) and have him sing to me. Back in May of last year I was playing with a new Google feature that came out called Google Search Stories. One could make their own Google search story by how you searched for and the various ways you could search for something on Google in a short 30 second clip. So, my “experiment” Google search story was about Steve Perry and sightings. You can view my video that I did here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo-xlvvSW24
I would love to be the recipient of the Simply Aprons book. 🙂

We spent the weekend doing yard work. I SO deserve a break….and what better way to spend it than looking through a new book! I can’t say I’ve spotted any celebrities, but I did go to school with Kate Capshaw. We weren’t friends (she was a grade behind me), but we would smile and say hi when we passed in the halls. I guess I just dated myself….YES, I’M OLD!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a celebrity sighting. If I did, it obviously did not make much of an impression 🙂 This weekend I spent Saturday gardening with my grandmother & Sunday we went to church, had a potluck & then watched a bull buck-out. It was a pretty good weekend! Thank you for the opportunity
