IMG_3334 I think I'm nesting. Monday turned out to be a day of nearly 10 loads of laundry,  (and for the record, I will jump for joy when the day comes that I don't have to pay $2.50 per load of laundry), washing & setting up the co-sleeper and washing the car seat & all the baby clothes. I'm still recovering. Does anyone have any good suggestions on drawer organizers? The baby clothes are so small folded in that dresser and when the piles start to inevitably topple over it's going to be a mess in there. Let me know. Still no hospital bag packed, BUT major progress on the quilt. The entire top is done and just needs to be put together & binded. Huzzah! Still working on the to-do list but the tree is decorated and just a handful of things need to be done. IMG_3340This book has been on my night stand for months. We bought it when we were pregnant with Henry. I was pouring over this book on the delivery bed while laboring with Kate. For any new readers to this space, we really struggled with naming Kate and changed her name a month after she was born (by the way it still has not been legally changed….all the paperwork was recently sent back to us because I left one of the squares on the form blank….lame!)IMG_3343The back of the book has a little workbook page where you can write down all the names you like. We have names from when we were naming Henry and of course Kate. I even have some contraction times written down on this page from Kate's delivery. We have a name picked out for this little one, but I get a little panicky and start feeling unsure about it but have sworn to myself that we will not repeat what happened with Kate. I wish names weren't so difficult. I really want something that goes with Henry & Kate but I realize they won't always spend their lives together & it doesn't really matter. I'm just not 100% and that feeling sucks rotten donut holes. I just don't know what to do. Added to the to-do list: Pick a name for the baby (we are rapidly running out of time!) Maybe it's time for a new book. Maybe it's not the very best name book after all.

Suggestions? I'll take 'em!

Names can be challenging for sure. I was not reading your blog at the time of Kate’s birth. I’m just curious as to what you named her first? And what made you change it? Did it just not seem to fit her? I remember going through this with my oldest, wondering if she would like her name….did we spend enough time deciding on a name, etc. But I can’t imagine her as anything other than “Amy!”

I think everyone struggles with this (and perhaps some should a struggled just a bit more). I was forced to commit to a name so that I could bring my youngest home from the hospital. It is a fine name – a family name – but I still wonder if I made the right decision. My husband liked both of the last contenders and left the final call up to me. He’s 16 months old, so he’s stuck with it now!

She was originally named Margot- but I just never felt good about it and could never call her by name. I never loved the name but also couldn’t find anything that I did like so about 4 weeks into it we decided to change it to Kate which suits her perfectly (and she is just Kate, not short for Katherine)

i started reading your blog right around the time you changed her name to kate. and reading your posts since her birth she looks only like a Kate to me! good luck on a name. boys names are so hard. we never found out the sex of our kids. with our first son his name was set. our 2nd son he name was picked on the way to the hospital. if our 3rd would have been a boy his name would have been Gus….which no one liked and the only name we could agree on. so good thing she was a girl!!!!

    Hi,
I’ve never commented here before, but I love baby name talk and couldn’t resist! Boy names that I really liked but my husband gave the thumbs down to were: Grant, Sam, Liam, Ian, and Nathan. I especially like Ian. We have 2 boys named Charlie and Will…we just need a 3rd named Harry and we have the royal family! Good Luck, can’t wait to hear the wonderful news!

Oh i can just remember what it was like to have “baby brain”..my way of expalaining the indecision that you have when your hormones are on the rampage and you just cant decide on anything let alone a very imortant thing like the name that your child will have for the whole of its mortal life…dont feel bad…i had rene chosen for my daughter and whe she was born we looked at her and decided she didnt look like a rene and we named her something entirely different…. just wait till your baby is born and look at it ..you will know then..ask your children to have some input as well..you will be amazed at what they come up with…

Ooooh I love the dresser, not to mention everything in the picture! So so cute. Thanks for the comment on my blog! I love thinking of names, but boys are harder for me by a long shot – and I have 2 of them! Here are some I liked – Chace, Connor, Keegan, Keaton, Deacon, Asher, Tate,(We actually named our 2nd Tate but after a week the hubs wasn’t feeling it, though he tried, so we changed it. He’s still legally Tate! I kind of miss that name..) Finn, and Nash to name a few. 🙂

Good luck, Morgan! Naming should be the most fun part of pregnancy, but I think it’s actually just one of the most anxiety-inducing parts. Who is ever really 100% about their kids’ names? (Okay… so some people are… we hate those people!) You will pick a great name, no doubt.
I actually pulled out my baby name book for you (and my mental list of friends and family).. here are some of my favorites I thought would go well with Henry and Kate (and Moore): Emerson, Ezra, Anders, Garrison, Everett, Benson, Bennett, Barrett, Nolan, Rowan, Griffin, Ashton, Logan, Thomas, Calvin, Charlie, Caleb, Hudson, Colson, Lachlan, Lance, Abbot/Abe

Naming babies…..I have 2 boys and 6 girls. Naming got tough at the end. I picked out four names, stuck them on the fridge and everyone who came through the house voted.
I still have the paper in her baby book. The funny thing is when the nurse filled out the papers at the hosp. She spelled it wrong. We had to legally change it back. Uggg
    Good Luck…My 2 cents …I like Jack

I didn’t know you were having a baby. I am so excited for you. I need to check blogs more often, they kind of make me depressed because I can’t seem to keep up on mine. Boys names are hard, they either to cute or to normal.
I like Theo Moore, I was going to list more, but I really just like that. Maybe because I already know a Theo and Henry and it just works in my mind. Congratulations.

I haven’t read all the comments, but this is always hard for me too. I have a Henry, actually, and if my last child had been a girl, Kate was seriously in the running. I wanted them all to go together too. Mine are Virginia, Teddy, Henry, and George. I also love Parker, Elliot, Porter, and Bennet/Benjamin, but didn’t use those because of our last name or because of friends who have children named those names. Good luck! And we were nearly kicked out of the hospital without a name, so never fear, it will work out!

If I were having another boy (I already have 4), I’d name him Neal. Classic, old fashioned but different without being weird. I also love Will, and Oliver is nice too but seems a bit trendy. I like Andrew- nickname Drew, and James, nickname Jamie.

In spite of what they tell you, you don’t have to name the baby before you leave the hospital. It REALLY annoys them – true – but too bad! They did call me everyday to encourage me to choose – but that’s what caller ID is for!
Bring him home – try a few on for size and see what fits!

A little late as you’re now at the hospital in labour but here are my picks…Oliver, Simon or Charles (Charlie). Those work well with both your kids names and with Moore. My kids names are totally not traditional (India, Dylan and Mason) but they all love their names. BTW – I named my daughter India in 1986 and people thought we were nuts! If I had had one more baby my names were Simone (after my grandmother)or Liam. Sooo wish I had had one more baby! Goodluck and enjoy!
