Nienie2  I'm pretty much freaking out. This doll was made by the wonderful Christine for next weeks sale and along with the doll, you get a mini-portrait painting.
Nienie4 DETAILS ABOUT THE DOLL:

“Nie Nie" is approx. 11" tall (28 cm). She is wearing a white cotton dress with a red floral pattern
on it. Around her waist she wears a pink ribbon with red trim. Her strappy shoes are painted
cherry red and her hair is painted chocolate brown. Her eyes are blue and she has freckles
adorning her cheeks. Around her neck she wears a necklace made of opaque glass beads
in a deep red color.
Nie Nie comes with a "self-portrait" acrylic painting on a mini canvas (2"x 2.75") that is sealed
with a matte varnish on the front and back.
Both doll and canvas come signed by artist. The mini easel is included.

About the Construction of my Art Dolls:

The doll’s bodies are made entirely of a strong polymer clay and painted in multiple
layers of acrylics and matte varnish. Each doll has a solid “undergarment” painted on them in
addition to socks/tights and shoes/boots. Each doll now has a wire armature running through
her head and neck for extra support.

Arms and legs are movable and joined to the torso using double twisted wire and silver (or gold)
spacer beads. The dresses and jackets are hand-sewn (sometimes machine sewn) and aren’t
removable (they’re glued in place). Buttons ,pins, and flowers adorning jackets and/or hair are
purely decorative. Hats and crowns are not removable however masks are. All are delicate so dolls
need to be handled with care. Dolls should be propped up on a shelf,
chair or some other place for display as they dont always sit up on their own.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each unique doll varies in height, head size, arm length, skin texture, makeup color,
facial expressions, etc. Paint brush strokes are visible and an occasional thumb print
sometimes show up and are meant to be seen. A brush hair may be visible
and fabrics, especially the silks, may have imperfections and some fraying.
My dolls aren’t meant to look machine made they’re one of a kind, "painterly" art
pieces made of clay.. Lots of love and attention to detail went into the making of these dolls
and I only sell my very best~ I hope they
bring you as much joy as they have to me!
Thank you for helping out Christian, Stephanie and their family!
~Christine 🙂
    I think that the Nie doll & self portrait should be mass re-produced so that those of us who are clearly going to be out-bid can 1) still purchase and have the opportunity for the funds to be donated and 2) have a doll to keep. Talk about a fund raiser!
    I agree with Tiffany. I would love to see the doll mass produced with proceeds going to the Nielson’s fund. I can’t afford $500 but I could buy a few if they were less expensive. I would love to help.
    I was hoping to buy it for Christian so he could have his Nie Nie by his side (BTW…my daughter calls her security blanket her nie nie…thought that was interesting). Unfortunately, I can’t do it for $500. Ditto to Tiffany and Marianne.
    I would love to see this beautiful doll made again for Nie Nie’s sweet kids and family, whom I do not know personally, but am so inspired by. I also can’t afford the current bid, yet I’d love to order one for a more affordable amount.
    While I can sympathize with those that cannot donate quite a nice bid, I like that OOAK is just that-one of a kind, special and unique to the one person who is lucky enough to have her. She’s EXTRAORDINARY for sure-and deserves to be her own queen!
    I’m so happy about the success of Christine’s (Du Buh Du designs) doll! Though I can’t afford this amazing amount, it’s great to follow the bids. You guys are extremely generous.
    About the mass produced dolls, I have to disagree even if it’s for a good and very important cause. I think we should all keep in mind that these dolls are one-of-a-kind only, and I think Christine likes it like that. No mass-produced, go handmade and unique!
    Since this is a fund raising event, my vote would be to take orders for the doll and maybe Christine could have other “artists” help her with production. It truly is a beautiful work of art and such a tribute to Nie Nie (and Christine’s creativity) it would be wonderful for more of us to “have” her too!
    Speaking humbly, I hope the NieNie doll isn’t mass produced. Christine’s work is unique and one of a kind, each piece such a beautiful representation of where her heart is at the moment she makes it. There’s so much love in this doll. Good cause or no, I don’t think mass production would do honor to the artist. If you want to support and encourage the artist, buy her art. If you want to support the Nielsons, there will be other etsy items posted throughout the week and there still seem to be cookies available through the cookie sale. If you just have the heart to give without receiving, their paypal donor page is always up, and their family is always willing to accept prayers.
    I agree, the doll should remain a one of a kind. It’s an absolutely beautiful tribute to such a beautiful woman. I also hope the winning bidder will give the doll to Stephanie or her family. I would love to be able to do that for them. So touched by all the love here.
    There will only be one original handmade doll whatever you decide. I think producing them so many people can have one to remind them to pray, cherish their time and their families and raise more funds isn’t such a bad idea. The reproductions wouldn’t be as wonderful as the original but they could serve a very meaningful purpose.
    I don’t think that it is fair for anyone to say what the winning bidder should do with the doll. I hate to know that whoever buys it will feel obligated to give it away. The winning bidder will be paying hundreds of dollars for this doll- hundreds of dollars that will go to this wonderful family. They will be doing an amazing thing. The doll will be theirs, and it will be no one’s right to say what they should do with it. Just because you would give the doll to the family doesn’t mean that whoever buys it should.
