Post Apartment living means you have to walk across the street to the little blue mailbox anytime you want to mail a letter or package. I think those were some lunch sack on their way to some peeps. Speaking of, the shop will be going on maternity leave in about 3 weeks (the 28th of April) and will be closed until sometime in June, so if there’s anything you want, be sure to get your orders in before then. And the quilt. Eigh-yei-yei. Thank goodness for seam rippers. The white is coming off. It was just making me gag every time I looked at it. I picked up a green which I am loving. More on that later.
Phone
4 weeks people. 28 days. Good goo. We are getting down to the wire. Time to start washing clothes, getting the co-sleeper and carseat out of storage, um…think of a name.  Things are so different this time around. With Henry, we just were counting down the days. From the beginning, we charted his daily growth on-line:  "His buds have begun to form into arms!!!" "The baby is growing hair, toenails AND fingernails???" It just seemed to go by soo slow. We were overly prepared. Hospital bags were packed early, checklists had been checked and re-checked. All the pregnancy  books had been read.  Everything was washed in dreft and purell was plentiful. There were multiple "going home outfits" to choose from. The stroller was set up, sheets cleaned. We didn’t forget anything. School

Then we just waited and waited (I was overdue.) Things are so different now, as I imagine they are for everyone who has already had a baby. This time, the time has flown by. We are feeling unprepared in more ways than one. I’m kind of panicking that it’s coming up so soon. Since the baby will be co-sleeping there is no nursery to decorate (okay no nursery period. That’s 2 bedroom apartment living for you) but Henry’s room needs desperate attention. And I know I said I wasn’t going to but I think I may try to eek out a baby quilt for the stroller. Unlike my pregnancy with Henry, I haven’t written in a journal once for this baby. I really regret that. Life just tends to get so crazy and hectic. I think about it a lot and just haven’t done it. I took my journal with me to hospital when Henry was born and just love reading back on all those first moments of his life. I guess it’s not too late to do that.
Trains
This time around, it’s not just about us, but a lot about Henry, too. His glorious ‘all your attention is focused on me’ world is about to change. He’s going to be getting a sister and we’ve been trying to gently prepare him for that. I’m sure we will have our rough spots. It’s tough for  little person to now have to share you, but so many blessings and good times will come with this sweet new soul joining our family. He keeps saying, "She’s gonna be so cute" followed by giving my belly it’s daily zurbert (which he thinks is soo funny.) Henry
He sits on my lap and asks me, "Can you have 2 buddies?" "Of course, of course. You two will be my best buddies!" I reassure him.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about it all. But it will all work out and it will come together, won’t it? It just has to. I’m sure the first few months will be a complete fuzzy blur. But we are excited. Looking forward to being in jammies all day, nursing and just being a new little family of 4.

Ivy_3     I’m just going to throw this out there. Feel like suggesting any
names? We are really struggling here. Here’s some help. I really like
turn of the century classic names (but not boring, everyday names.)
Types of names I like: Olive, Fannie (I could never do this but think
it’s so adorable!) Annie, Tatum, we love Nora (Betsey & Richard you
are genius!). So can I ask beg
for your help?? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated and maybe
just maybe, I’ll send out a little something to the person with the
most brilliant name suggestion!

Thanks so much, Dustin for all the great photo’s. We just love and adore you (oh yeah, and my sister’s not so bad herself!)

Happy Wednesday!

xoxo

Oh how exciting! I LOVE the name Daisy right now. There is a girl at my daughter’s school who is the biggest tom boy and her name is Daisy and I just think she’s the cutest thing. I’m tempted to have another child just so I can have my own Daisy! LOL! Juust an aside… I saw you at JoAnn’s in Santa Monica a few months ago with Henry, but didn’t want to freak you out by saying hi – next time I will, though! Best wishes on an easy delivery!

If Cedric would have been a girl we would have named her Jane. I know what you are going through we had a very hard time coming up with a name, we really didn’t have a name picked out until Cedric was a day old. And don’t worry about being ready, the cradle was at my sisters house until I was in the hospital and I hadn’t gone through my baby stuff until after we came home from the hospital. All I had ready was the stuff that we needed to come home from the hospital. So don’t worry you are probably more prepared than I was. Good luck!!

Here are my favorite girl names, for I think I have given up hope (not sad, but put off for a while). I think they were already mentioned, but here they are:
    Georgia
Ruby (I know the cutest little Ruby with red hair and all)
    Evelyn
Wait, wait…Olive Moore? No, no, Olive you more! So many nickname possibilites….
Thoughts…characters names from your favorite books?
Oh, I have it….Prudence Moore, constant and unwavering. I knew a Prudence, a more perfect name for her could not have been had.
Good luck to you, old friend.

I like the alliteration idea, so my idea is something with a (an?) “H”.
I don’t know if anyone suggested Hannah (Hanna?) but I don’t know any Hannah’s in real life, only lovely ones through the internet. Think of introducing them – “these are my darling children…”
    Henrey and Hannah
    Henrey and Hope
    Henrey and Harper
Those last two I picked from other comments, but its something to ponder, how many syllables? My name is two, so I associate three with being hollered at (my first and middle names) or being in a formal situation. I think too much, but I’d want to give my second the same number of syllables so it would roll of the tongue easier. Not that I know anything, no little ones here, but it was fun to share my thoughts on my birthday on such a topic – thanks! =)

Well, here are two that I love but cannot use: Alice and Eleanor (or Elinor). I say cannot use because I just can’t bring myself to hang the name Alice Cooper on my beautiful baby, and I have a niece that has a name too close to Ellie. This is what happens when you wait til later in life to start your family: everyone starts using “your” names! 😉
Good luck with the naming! As for everything else, it will all fall into place — of course it will!

First those are beautiful photographs-just lovely.
These really “old” names are actual family names—Hope & Grace are my only personal picks from the list!
    Muriel
    Agnes Hope (my grandmother)
    Hazel
    Irene
    Bertha
    Grace
The “Grace” has been passed on a few times. If I ever had a girl, I would work “Hope” into the name. My sister had boys but had chosen “Gracen” as a girl’s first name.
I also adore the name “Ila”–long “i” sound…and like the sound of “Ila Hope”.
But am also partial to “Ila James” (my husband’s name)…
Best of luck in your name search!

My grandmas were born around 1914 and have pretty classic turn-of-the-century names: Fern and Betty Hazel. (Actually, it was Roberta Hazel, but she never liked Roberta, so it was always just Betty.) Two of my grandma’s best friends were Florence and Marguerite.
Some other names I thought you might like are Penelope/Penny, Adeline/Addie, Elsa, Lucy, Clara, Felicity, Genevieve, Margot, Nelle, and Tess. And of course I’m partial to Libby. =)
There are some pretty good theme lists at http://www.parents.com/pregnancy/baby-names/
themes/baby-names-top-trends/?page=18 including a list called “Old Fashioned But Not Everywhere” you might want to check out.
I, too, get stuck in “genres” and found it so hard to pick just one! When I was pregnant, I always said it would be easier to pick a name if we were having triplets (though thank heavens it wasn’t triplets!) But it was so much easier to like the gist of the sounds on a whole list rather than picking just one. Good luck!

I had an Aunt Frieda who lived at the turn of the century. I’ve always had Audrey picked out for a future daughter, but I think there is enough distance between us, so no worries about copy cats! I also went to school with a Yvonne. Something about the “Yv” combo does something for me. And then you don’t see many Holly’s or Jillian’s anymore either. Good luck picking a name!

I also have a preparing cute Henry for little sis suggestion (not that it was asked for). I made extra sure that my son (then 3) understood that when his little brother came, he would be boring, noisy, and smelly. LOL That way, he wasn’t disappointed when he came and was not able to play superheroes with him. Have fun and try to relish this time–it’ll be over before you know it.
