Post Apartment living means you have to walk across the street to the little blue mailbox anytime you want to mail a letter or package. I think those were some lunch sack on their way to some peeps. Speaking of, the shop will be going on maternity leave in about 3 weeks (the 28th of April) and will be closed until sometime in June, so if there’s anything you want, be sure to get your orders in before then. And the quilt. Eigh-yei-yei. Thank goodness for seam rippers. The white is coming off. It was just making me gag every time I looked at it. I picked up a green which I am loving. More on that later.
Phone
4 weeks people. 28 days. Good goo. We are getting down to the wire. Time to start washing clothes, getting the co-sleeper and carseat out of storage, um…think of a name.  Things are so different this time around. With Henry, we just were counting down the days. From the beginning, we charted his daily growth on-line:  "His buds have begun to form into arms!!!" "The baby is growing hair, toenails AND fingernails???" It just seemed to go by soo slow. We were overly prepared. Hospital bags were packed early, checklists had been checked and re-checked. All the pregnancy  books had been read.  Everything was washed in dreft and purell was plentiful. There were multiple "going home outfits" to choose from. The stroller was set up, sheets cleaned. We didn’t forget anything. School

Then we just waited and waited (I was overdue.) Things are so different now, as I imagine they are for everyone who has already had a baby. This time, the time has flown by. We are feeling unprepared in more ways than one. I’m kind of panicking that it’s coming up so soon. Since the baby will be co-sleeping there is no nursery to decorate (okay no nursery period. That’s 2 bedroom apartment living for you) but Henry’s room needs desperate attention. And I know I said I wasn’t going to but I think I may try to eek out a baby quilt for the stroller. Unlike my pregnancy with Henry, I haven’t written in a journal once for this baby. I really regret that. Life just tends to get so crazy and hectic. I think about it a lot and just haven’t done it. I took my journal with me to hospital when Henry was born and just love reading back on all those first moments of his life. I guess it’s not too late to do that.
Trains
This time around, it’s not just about us, but a lot about Henry, too. His glorious ‘all your attention is focused on me’ world is about to change. He’s going to be getting a sister and we’ve been trying to gently prepare him for that. I’m sure we will have our rough spots. It’s tough for  little person to now have to share you, but so many blessings and good times will come with this sweet new soul joining our family. He keeps saying, "She’s gonna be so cute" followed by giving my belly it’s daily zurbert (which he thinks is soo funny.) Henry
He sits on my lap and asks me, "Can you have 2 buddies?" "Of course, of course. You two will be my best buddies!" I reassure him.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about it all. But it will all work out and it will come together, won’t it? It just has to. I’m sure the first few months will be a complete fuzzy blur. But we are excited. Looking forward to being in jammies all day, nursing and just being a new little family of 4.

Ivy_3     I’m just going to throw this out there. Feel like suggesting any
names? We are really struggling here. Here’s some help. I really like
turn of the century classic names (but not boring, everyday names.)
Types of names I like: Olive, Fannie (I could never do this but think
it’s so adorable!) Annie, Tatum, we love Nora (Betsey & Richard you
are genius!). So can I ask beg
for your help?? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated and maybe
just maybe, I’ll send out a little something to the person with the
most brilliant name suggestion!

Thanks so much, Dustin for all the great photo’s. We just love and adore you (oh yeah, and my sister’s not so bad herself!)

Happy Wednesday!

Okay, this is fun. Nobody ever asks for help when it comes to naming a baby. Names I love but never used:
    Deirdre
Molly (Molly Morgan is SO cute)
    Caroline
You have the BEST last name.

My grandfather had a sister (acutally a lot of them) but I remember him telling me his favorite sister was Charlotte and they called her Lottie–I thought it was so cute! Another name I have heard recently is Ruby. Good luck–baby naming can be so hard! (we didn’t have a name for our son until minutes before we left the hospital–wouldn’t recommend that!)

not saying it WILL happen, but you may want to prepare (emotionally) for the chance that Mr. H might not like sweet little babe at first. gasp i know, it’s hard to imagine. when we had gray, our darling “has never said/done a mean thing in her LIFE” olivia did NOT like her little brother. AT. ALL. she would beg to “give him back”. 😦 it broke my heart. a couple months later, all was well, but it was a bit of a surprise in the beginning.
Ah, names…we s.u.c.k at it too. (i hate the word “suck”, but it’s the most descriptive way i can describe it right now.)
i nannied for a little girl named Frances– they called her Fannie or France and I thought it was the sweetest name in the world! if we were having a girl we liked:
    Ada
    Maggie
    Lucy
    Maeve
    Jayne
    Lillie
    Lola
    Ruby
    Elliet…
sigh why do we have so much trouble with boy names??? 🙂 can’t wait to hear what you choose!
    p.s. you look ADORABLE!

I’m not going to look at any of the names above. My family loves to re-use older names, from further up the family tree. Some fun ones are –
    Maxine
    Alberta
    Bessie
    Mary Ann
    Geneva
    Cordelia
    Lenora
    Cora
    Clara
    Eliza
    Lucy
    Lithia
Nimrod (Just kidding…it’s a boy’s name. But, yes, it’s in there!)

My only advice on names is always check with other people for wierd nicknames that might not be flattering. I totally didn’t see Frankenstien coming when I named Frankie. She has a “real” name we never use just in case she wants to be something else, but she’s almost always been cool with Frankie.
You look so pretty, I love the photos. I’m glad things are going well and you’re happy. xo

It was a huge adjustment for us…Ethan had a tough time, and Colin had his nights/days mixed up. I could not for the life of me figure out how anyone else did it and why more people hadn’t warned me. Then all of a sudden it just got easy. Still busy, but a normal, fun, no longer completely overwhelming kind of busy. Now Ethan loves Colin, Colin adores Ethan, and I am able to enjoy both of them.
I am no help on the names! My favorite girl name is Megan, which is out for you, I suppose. I also like place names for girls…Sydney, Asia, London.

We went for family names–pulled out the family trees and picked. My son is named after hubby’s side and daughter is from mine. This one (#3) we went to a baby book since we didn’t like any more on the tree.
One of my favorite girl names is Ivy. Too cute. A pet peeve is anything popular, so there went Ava, Emma and Grace out the window. Another good one is Ruth, and my grandma is Daisy. 🙂

And go for the stroller quilt! If you got the time, do it!

I couldn’t decide what to name my own daughter, so she ended up with three names. She’s called Emma Lilly Grace. Since my DH has been neutered, I don’t think I’ll be having any more, so I will pass on my other favorite girl names to you.
    They are:
    Charlotte Jane
    Camille Rose (aka Millie)
I like names that suit old ladies as well as little girls, and these work for me.
I hope all goes well with Henry and his new sister. My son was 28 months when Emma was born. They don’t get along so great, but I’m hoping they will eventually. (they are 7 and 5) Dare to dream, LOL!

So we love Anya, which isn’t exactly classic as you mentioned, but it’s pretty and fits with Chis’ good ol’ mission days. Tragically, it’s a name we’ll never use. (Um, last name conflict). We also love Nora and have thought of it ourselves! Such a pretty name. Who knows though? I’m a little afraid if we have another girl someday that she would be nameless because Mike is so picky. You don’t know me at all, but I have been drawn to your sweet little blog in recent days. It has so much eye candy. Anyway, I am a kindergarten teacher and so I see a lot of cooky names. It is definitely best to stick with the classics, easy to pronounce and spell. I definitely love Nora. Then you can get her the book, Noisy Nora by Rosemary Wells (which is another great “classic” name). Speaking of books, I would like to reccomend that no matter which name you choose, read the book, Crysanthemum (by Kevin Henkes) to your daughter. It is the sweetest little book about names.
