Etsuko Scene - oat - click to enlargeIsn’t this fabric to die for? (I was asking Megan how to spell ‘salivate’, and she responded with "Sick! You can’t put that on your blog!") … so instead I say ‘Isn’t this fabric to die for?’ Tell me you agree! A while ago, Melanie was kind enough to send me some fabric links as she knew I was in the market for some fabric. One of the links was for Reprodepot. If you have never checked them out- definately go there. They have such a great selection! Some of the fabrics are a bit pricey but others seem relatively reasonable.

Isn’t this one great, too? My mind is going a million different directions with what I could do with this (do tablecloths count?) … My sewing classes start up on Monday night and I am so excited. I feel like sewing has become a little bit of a lost art. I think most of us grew up with Mothers that sewed and I can’t say that I know too many people my age that sew (Yes, some of you do and I LOVE you for it!!)  Anyway it’s been ages since I have taken a class of any sort, so I am thrilled. Be on the lookout for some new sewing projects on the old blog. I was thinking about making Henry some soft-blocks out of the Amy Butler squares I posted about earlier.

Okay- last picture of fabric… I love this. The colors are wonderful- so 60’s/70’s looking. It’s surprising because it’s definately not one of my favorite era’s but I do love it. I think it would make such an adorable little bib or baby blanket, don’t you? I can’t wait to make gifts for friends. Homemade gifts are just where it’s at…

We’ll see how well I catch onto this whole sewing thing! Send your good sewing vibes my way! Let me know if you have any favorite sites you like to get fabric from. Happy sewing to all you sewers our there!

I LOVE Reprodepot. I haven’t ever actually ordered from them, but its such a fun site to just poke around!
I agree about sewing being a lost art, though I think people really are taking interest in it again. Maybe I’ve just seen a few too many episodes of Project Runway, but I think it’s just a matter of time before it’s a booming hobby again. Hopefully fabric stores (i.e. Joann) will catch on to this and will catch up with the trend! I have the hardest time finding anything but quilt fabric!
