I’ve been thinking a lot these past few days about ‘inspiration’ and ‘being inspired’. I’m relatively new to this whole blogging world, but have come across some other blogs that I have fallen in love with and that have totally inspired me. Inspired me to do what? I am not totally sure.. but I start getting all excited inside and just want to start making things. I think ‘I want to start sewing things!’ Cool- Yes- let’s start sewing. Then I remember I don’t own a sewing machine. But I do own lots of fabric and thread and needles and things that one would use to sew, just missing that pesky sewing machine. I know I posted a pic of Henry at the beach recently, but have been looking at this photo a lot over the past few days, trying to make a Thank You card for all the sweet friends who came to the party. I love this photo. Henry was already in his jammies and ready to be put to bed before we left for our drive- so that when we got home, we could put him right down. He actually fell asleep on the way to the beach- but I love that he is in his p.j’s in this picture. He inspires me. He inspires me to want to be a better Mom, to make cool craft projects when he’s old enough to. I can’t wait to make him felt books and things. Things to keep him busy (and quiet) in church. I saw the coolest felt book years ago and it’s been on my brain ever since. Anyway- back to ‘Inspiration’.. being inspired is such a cool feeling.. These inspiring blogs that I’ve been chatting about make me want to learn to take better photographs, to become a better cook, to learn how to sew (again.. just need that one small thing.. a machine!) I’ve added a new column to my blog called ‘ Inspiring Sites.’ They are places I check out almost daily. Check them out. They are very cool. Maybe they will inspire you! It’s great to be able to see other peoples creations..it makes me want to get out there and make some stuff.. put your own spin on it. Make it your own. Make it my own… What inspires you?

LOVE the thank you! I’m inspired by Flickr and 2peas and pretty paper, and lovely pictures of my family, and lovely magazines of all types and thrift stores, and blogs and rummaging through my paper, and old fabric and new fabric and and and so many many things!

Morgan,

I’m on the hunt for a sewing machine too. I’m regretting all those times my mom offered to show me how to sew! The link is for the singer website. I’m currently looking at the refubished options, in my price range and a good way (at least for me) to start a new hobby!
I’m inspired by Joni Mitchell lyrics/voice, stories from This American Life on NPR, blogs (I check three of those same sites you listed everyday too!) my husband, the book My Name is Asher Lev, and taking walks…among other things 🙂
Thanks for giving me the incentive to think about the idea of inspiration (in lots of forms)!LikeLike

A couple of thoughts- there are creative thoughts, and then there are inspired ideas. Creative thoughts are for example, things I want to do on my train layout, or details on my engines. Inspired ideas are more pointed in my case: they have a direct purpose. For example- thoughts that come to me preparing or presenting a lesson in Gospel Doctrine, or giving a Priesthood Blessing. Somewhere in-between are the creative ideas in developing my Track Planning Tools and my company concept.

Without them, there is nothing but grey, pointless existence.

Hey Morgan, I loved this post! You yourself are inspiring! I love your photographs and your little projects. Looking at fabric, listening to the Indigo Girls and talking about food, and visiting with good friends all inspire me. So does this site: http://smallhand.blogspot.com/

I would also love, love, love to hear about this flannel book floating around in your head. I have been wanting to make one for Anders but haven’t been sure where to start.

I have about 60 blogs that are in my bloglines that I try to visit each week…They ALL inspire me in some way or another. My flowers inspire me as does wonderful music of all sorts. Black and white photography…pics like this one…are so sweet. It makes me smile to see others creativity and eye for just the right shot. 2Ps is always an inspiration, too.
Just found your blog and I will be back to see how your machine search is going.
BTW…My mom made cloth book for my kids when they were little..an excellent quiet book for church. I only brought it to church so that it would capture their attention longer. :o)LikeLike
